“Anchored” is designed for families to come together and be fully present with each other while including and feeling the presence of their angel.  Life doesn’t always offer that time, to be fully immersed with our families, to allow space for our lost child, and to give uninterrupted moments to do this.  We believe that our families are strong, yet the day to day interruptions and necessities don’t always allow us to be anchored into what is most important… our family.  Our hope with this retreat is that families will have a chance to come together and spend quality time with their own family members, to meet and connect with other families who are on a similar grief journey, and to have time to reflect on their own loss, which will be unique to each member of each family.

This retreat does have some structure, but there will time given to just be with your family and take that much needed time to reconnect, talk about and include your missing family member, and be present once again.

We realize that men, women and children all grieve very differently, and that will be respected and accepted. Our hope is you will leave this retreat once again feeling anchored into your family.

What to Expect:

Whole group and small group discussions/activities: Being with other bereaved families is something most of us find so rare, yet incredibly comforting and powerful. During the retreat, you will have an opportunity to participate in several whole group and small group discussions/activities. Topics and activities will be determined based on the needs of the families and ages in attendance.

Independent time with families: Much needed time will be given for families to spend with each other.

Personal Reflection: Take in some moments during the retreat for personal reflection and remembrance of your child and your journey, as we believe this independent time is an essential part of the healing process.

Sharing Our Angels: As grieving parents we can often feel alienated from the rest of the world. For most of us, we rarely get the chance to talk about our children with the outside world as well as with our children. Use this weekend as a platform to talk to and about them- sharing as much or as little of your journey as you feel comfortable and allowing time for your children to share their experiences as well.  We will say their names, and we will honor and remember them- all while having much needed fun family time.
