board of directors

Rob + Ady Dorsett

As Hayden's parents, we are the founders and directors of Hayden's Heart INC. We started this foundation just a few months after he passed away out of desperation as a way to keep Hayden's memory alive and help raise awareness for CHD. Hayden has always had a lot of supporters from his followings on facebook and we felt with support like that, we just had to keep it going in hopes of helping other families like ours. It has given us a way to feel like we are helping Hayden live on and to us, there is nothing more important.

Ady Dorsett - Chief Executive Officer

Ady serves as a liaison between the foundation and the heart community and is especially passionate about providing support to the heart angel community- specifically through her ‘Healing of the Heart’ retreat for mothers who have experienced a loss due to a CHD.  Ady has her hand in all aspects of the foundation from planning and hosting events, mailing out apparel, supporting and communicating with fellow heart moms and heart organizations, and much more. Please contact Ady at

Rob Dorsett - Chief Financial Officer

Rob handles all financial aspects as well as all the behind the scenes legalities that come with running a non profit 501c3 foundation. I am honored and humbled to serve on the board for Hayden's House of Healing. In the summer of 2016, I attended the Healing of the Heart retreat and it was such a life-changing experience to connect with other heart angel moms. I knew after that weekend that I wanted to do whatever I could to help others who are grieving to have this same experience - to understand that they are not alone in their grief.

I live in the Philadelphia area with my husband, Mike, and our son, Ethan. Our daughter, Ella, passed away in 2015 at 2 months old while awaiting a heart transplant. Ella taught me more in her short life than I ever could have dreamed of teaching her and I am thankful that I can carry on her memory through helping others. I have worked in communications and marketing for more than ten years and I am excited to bring that experience to the role of Communications Coordinator for Hayden's House of Healing. I truly believe this house will change lives - we welcome your support as we work to spread awareness, raise funding, and turn this vision into a reality.

I am so honored to be part of this project and hope to do all I can do make Ady's vision a reality. I currently am the Regional Director of Family Support Services for NORWESCAP, overseeing four NJ Department of Children & Families funded programs. I am married to my soulmate, Jonathan, and have two amazing kids who fill my days with laughter and love- Alexandria, age 12 and Ryder, age 5. Ryder is our Heart Warrior, diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot. Always a Heart Mom, I spend any spare time advocating for Congenital Heart Defect Awareness and raising money for the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia's Cardiac Unit and organizations affiliated with the hospital. I hope I can bring my professional experience and my passion for the heart community to this project.

Robert Smith - Treasurer

I am Hayden’s grandfather.  I live in Williamsport, Pennsylvania with my wife, Pam where we raised our two daughters, Tatum and Ady.  We have been blessed with eight grandchildren, seven boys and a princess. I am honored and humbled to serve as Treasurer for Hayden’s House of Healing in memory of our precious, perfect little angel, Hayden.  He was with us for such a short period of time, but impacted our lives forever.  He was so fragile, but such a mighty warrior, and with all he had to endure, he loved life.  His bright eyes and infectious smile warmed the hearts and has inspired so many to do so much good for others.  Please join us in our journey in making this beautiful vision a reality.  For information please contact me at:

In October of 2015 I was blessed with the opportunity to attend the first ‘Healing of the Heart Retreat’ for mamas of heart angels, hosted by Hayden’s Heart. Through that life changing experience, I walked away knowing that my heart was leading me to find a way help other grieving families, and in 2016 I became part of the core planning team for future Healing of the Heart retreats.

My family and I live in Northern California where my days are filled with homeschooling our four living children - Hayden, Ellie, Jordyn & Avery. Our heart angel Evan, passed away in 2012 at the age of two years old. I am honored to be given the opportunity to fulfill the role of research coordinator for Hayden’s House of Healing and to play a small part in the healing process of the families who will be blessed to spend time in Hayden’s House.

I am so incredibly honored to be part of the Hayden’s House of Healing Board as a Research Coordinator! In 2012, I met Ady through a mutual friend, and after she mentioned her dream of doing a retreat for bereaved heart moms, we founded the Healing of the Heart retreat together in 2015. I just knew that this was the perfect way to serve other angel moms and am so blessed to be able to continue as part of the core planning team each year.

I currently live in Northern NJ with my husband, Justin, and two sassy rainbows, Emily and Jenna. Our oldest daughter, Ella, passed away in 2007 after suffering complications from open heart surgery, and I wanted to give purpose to her short life by giving back to others in her name. After seeing the absolutely amazing things that our Healing of the Heart retreat has done, I know that Hayden’s House will change lives in ways that we could only dream of. I am so excited to see this vision come to life and cannot wait to BUILD. THIS. HOUSE!!

In July 2017 I was given the opportunity to attend the Healing of the Heart retreat hosted by Hayden’s Heart. It was a life changing experience. I realized that I wanted to be a part of this amazing organization to help other mothers in their grief. In 2018 I became part of the core team that led the 2018 fall healing of the heart retreat.

I am so incredibly honored to be a part of the Hayden’s House of Healing board as a research coordinator. I live with my husband Todd and my daughter Sydney in Hamilton, NJ. Our first child, Seth, was born in 2014 at 32 weeks weighing just 2 pounds 9 ounces. He was diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot and passed away in May 2015 after complications from his third open heart surgery. The retreat changed my life. In honor of Seth and all of the other angels gone too soon, I am grateful to be part of this amazing organization and hope to help many others dealing with the loss of their precious children.

I am very honored and proud to be a part of the board for Hayden’s House of Healing. I first became familiar with Hayden’s Heart, after attending the Healing of the Heart retreat in the summer of 2016. My angel, Madeline, had passed away, at the age of 15 months, on February 6, 2016, due to dilated cardiomyopathy. She brought a tremendous amount of love and laughter to our home, and I had no idea how to navigate life without her. This retreat changed my life, as I now knew that I was not alone. I truly believe that Hayden’s House of Healing is so greatly needed, and I love everything that it represents. I was moved to tears when I first heard about the house in the fall at the Gala. There is no doubt in my mind that this project will reach out to so many grieving families who are in need of love and support. It is all I have ever wanted to do, since losing my daughter—help other families like ours.

I currently reside in Northern New Jersey with my husband, Erik, and our son, Michael. We are expecting our rainbow baby in the spring. I spend my days working as a high school history teacher and caring for my family. I am excited to be a part of this project, raising funds for this amazing retreat house, as well as honoring Hayden and my daughter Madeline. Please reach out to me if you have any ideas for fundraisers; I would greatly welcome your input or assistance.

I was fortunate enough to attend the first Healing of the Heart retreat in 2015, and I was so surprised and overwhelmed by my own healing that I began to volunteer at the following retreats.  I have witnessed first hand how amazing connections and healing can happen just by providing a safe space for people to grieve. Each time I watch it unfold, I am inspired and reminded how important it is for grieving families to be together. This is why I am so passionate about Hayden’s House of Healing and their mission to help others.

My husband Jake and I live outside of Reading, PA with our two living children, Logan and Abbi. Our daughter Vivian passed away in 2011, and starting in 2015 with the retreat I attended, I have found a new passion for helping others who are walking a similar path in grief as I am.   I am honored to be a member of the Hayden’s House of Healing board as a compassionate colleague.

I was blessed to attend the Healing of the Heart retreat in 2018 after losing my son Samuel the previous October from a congenital heart defect. When my little boy passed away at only 6 months old I was unaware that there was an organization dedicated to helping families who have lost children in such a manner. Thankfully a friend recommended the retreat and my outlook on life and loss was completely changed. It was a significant part of my healing process. Due to that fact, I wanted to spread awareness and offer other parents and family members the opportunity to find healing and to find others to travel through the journey with them.

My husband Eric and I live in Omaha Nebraska with our living son, Frederic – who was Samuel’s twin brother. I work part time as a commercial interior designer and also stay connected as I can be with our local Children’s hospital and its cardiac unit through boards and committees. I am so thankful to be a part of Hayden’s House of Healing and its mission.

When I attended the Summer 2018 retreat for Hayden’s House of Healing, I was about two and a half years out from the loss of my son. Ben was born in September of 2015 with HLHS and PVS. He lived for four months, but sadly passed away in January of 2016 from secondary complications. I knew of Ady and Hayden’s Heart because they sent my family a beautiful care package after Ben passed. When I heard of their retreats, I felt in my heart that I was meant to go on one of them. As the retreat grew closer, I considered not going. I felt that my family needed me too much for me to go away for the weekend and do something for myself. In addition I think that part of me thought that too much time had passed for me to still be dealing with my grief. I am so incredibly glad that I went. My family survived just fine without me for the week and the retreat was life changing for me. I realized that I had never given myself time to fully process and deal with my emotions. There is no timetable on grief. I also met a group of women who had similar experiences of loss. I was given a support network that I could go to when I am having a rough day.

When I heard that Hayden’s Heart was looking to secure a permanent residence so that they could give more families the opportunity to take part in these retreats, I knew I had to be a part of the journey. I am honored to be a compassionate colleague for Hayden’s House of Healing.
